OUR PROGRAM

The Wheatland Wizards Travel Basketball program is the elite basketball program of the Wheatland Athletic Association.  Duncan Ward is the Director of the Wizards program, coaching, training and mentoring staff and players for over 10 years.  We believe that the proper approach to developing a high level basketball player is to have a mix of high quality skills training, proper game preparation and strategy, and the proper level of competition. Player development training is included for all players to master the fundamentals of basketball, increase physical fitness and develop mental quickness. The Wheatland Wizards Program places high emphasis on training and practice time throughout the year, but balances hard work and fun. The Wizards welcomes all athletes to try out,  including the athlete that is involved in multiple sports and activities but wants to continue to develop competitively in basketball.

The Wheatland Athletic Association, Inc. (WAA) is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation established in 1977 to provide youth athletic programs in the Aurora/Naperville IL area. WAA has over 12,000 annual registrants in numerous programs for youth aged 18 months to 18 years old, as well as adult programs. Our board of directors is staffed with volunteers from the community. The Wheatland Athletic Association owns and operates the WAA Sports Center, a 30,000 square foot indoor sports facility, with a basketball court and a sand infill, synthetic turf soccer field. In addition, adjacent to the WAA Sports Center, WAA operates the WAA Baseball/Softball Training Center. The WAA Training Center is a 5,000 square foot hitting facility with 4 batting cages and training area.
